Engineering and Construction instruction manual Project description Assignment Prompt and Context Create a set of instructions for a technical device or procedure, preferably one in your own field. The instructions should be for a specific process, task, or product and should use specific technical skills you are currently developing in your other classes. Your instructions should also be relevant and informative for your intended audience, and must include all of the following elements: NO RESEARCH Write in imperative mode Introduction: Title, table of contents, safety warnings, materials Prose: Talk about who is interesting about the product or procedure, what knowledge do you need, real world application. Conclusion: Index, etc. 1. A title page with a clear and limiting title. 2. Demonstration of knowledge of your topic, indicated by an appropriate level of detail and technicality. 3. Descriptions, specifications, and visuals for all special materials and equipment needed to complete the instructions. 4. Properly labeled figures (diagrams, icons, illustrations) to illustrate steps. 5. Ordered steps under the decimal format (i.e. the numbering format I am utilizing for these instructions). Also remember the following: 6. 1. Avoid including too much information in each individual step. 6.2. Avoid large leaps among steps. 6. Notes, hazard notices, and safety information (as necessary). 7. Clear organization by including a Table of Contents, section headings, and a Help or FAQ section, or an Appendix (as deemed necessary for your topic). 8. Finally, while this assignment should be based on something you know well, any information consulted for the instructions, as well as images used for figures, must be documented and cited in a SEPARATE References page submitted with your final draft. * A successful assignment involves instructions that are clear and readable and have an effective visual design.
