Psychology: Case Study Case Study*: Kayla is in her mid-forties and has built a successful career in advertising. She lives alone in a large city on the East Coast. Kayla’s father has recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and she is struggling to balance the pressures of her career with her new role as her father’s primary caregiver. She confides in you that her biggest stress is dealing with her boss, Nancy. Kayla describes Nancy as œthe kind of person you never share personal information with. The more Nancy knows about your life, the more ammunition she has for her arousal. Despite her fear of Nancy’s attacks, Kayla knows that she may miss some work while she is looking for a long-term facility for her father, so she explains her father’s situation to Nancy. During this week’s staff meeting, Kayla tells you that Nancy announced that she was pulling Kayla off of her current project. Kayla tells you that Nancy œlooked right at me and said to the group, ˜You know Kayla. There is always some kind of drama.’ Kayla is devastated by the situation.
