How has New Public Management transformed the management of public services? Has it led to a convergence between the public and private sectors?2. It is often claimed that public services are on a path to privatization since the introduction of New Public Management. What is the evidence for such a claim and what does the future look like?3. How has progressive governance transformed the way public services are managed?4. How can Public-Private Partnerships impact on the culture and identity of public service workers?5. How have performance management and audit systems changed on the organisation of public services? Have they led to performance improvements?6. How and why do public service professionals make it difficult to manage public services?7. How have management practices more commonly associated with private business or manufacturing contributed to the modernisation of public services? Discuss your answer with reference to either Lean Thinking or Knowledge Management in one public service area.8. What does the future of public service management look like?
