Final Project

The final project includes both a 10 – 12 page paper (not including title page or references section) and a PowerPoint presentation with 8 slides of content. Utilizing independent research and course materials, compose a 10 – 12 page paper. The first section (5-6 pages) is to be a compare/contrast essay where you illustrate the similarities and differences in organizational components, actions, and attributes promoting a healthy culture and organizational components, actions, and attributes not promoting a healthy culture. What role does leadership have in transforming workplace culture to promote a healthy organization?

Even though leadership has brought a heightened awareness of how to deal with mental health issues in the workplace and set the stage for a healthy organizational culture, disorders and problems will still occur. For the second section of your paper (5-6 pages), provide a reflective portion. This section should contain a synopsis of five of the following issues or disorders. Include ethical and legal considerations leaders may need to consider during transformation of organizational culture.

For each issue/disorder you selected, indicate what behaviors call attention to the potential disorder or issue, as well as possible interventions and treatments for each disorder/issue. Explain how you, personally, will deal differently with these issues in the workplace than you would have before this class. At least one scholarly source for each disorder or issue should be used to support your ideas.

Next, imagine that you are presenting the results of your paper to a class of college students who are learning about psychopathology in the workplace. Create an 8-slide PowerPoint presentation (not including title slide or references slide) that highlights the key concepts of your paper. Incorporate at least 100 words of speaker notes for each content slide. Post your PowerPoint presentation in Doc Sharing (as well as in the Dropbox) so that your peers may view your work. *Please note: Your paper should only be placed in the Dropbox, even though your PowerPoint presentation will be placed in both the Dropbox and in Doc Sharing.*

Describe the components, actions, and attributes associated with healthy versus unhealthy organizational cultures.
Compare Similarities and contrast differences between components, actions and attributes of these two organizational cultures: the healthy and the unhealthy
Illustrate leadership behaviors and specific actions that leaders can take to transform a workplace culture and promote a healthy organization. Include ethical and legal considerations leaders may need to consider during transformation of organizational culture.
Summarizes the behaviors, ethical behavioral interventions, and possible treatments for at least five of the listed issues or disorders. Incorporate at least one scholarly source for each issue or disorder.
Explain how you, personally, will deal differently with these issues or disorders in the workplace, given what you have learned in this class.
For PowerPoint: Speaker notes contain at least 100 words for each slide of content. The notes support the slides by explaining bullet points and by providing detailed examples that a speaker might use when delivering the PowerPoint presentation. Parenthetical citations support statements made within the speaker notes section.
The paper accounts for 15 total points and the PowerPoint accounts for 6 total points for this section of the rubric.
Writing and Organization Criteria

Research Criteria
3 Points
The paper includes a summary and analysis of research materials that are relevant to the assignment, e.g. scholarly journals, professional articles, legal documents, government documents, legal decisions, media clips, software, measurement instruments websites, personal communication, etc.
Professional/scholarly journals are peer reviewed and focus on the profession/application of psychology (located on Proquest, EBSCOHost, PsycNET, etc.). Non-scholarly articles include newspapers, periodicals, secular magazines, etc, and are not peer reviewed. Websites not approved include wilkipedia.com and about.com.
Research focuses on the most current information (past five to ten years) except when citing seminal works (e.g. Freud, Erickson, etc.).
Paper includes the appropriate number of references required by the assignment.
When appropriate, the paper addresses ethical considerations in research.
Style Criteria
3 Points
The paper is in the appropriate APA format used by the institution/program (e.g. the 6th edition).
The paper is double-spaced and in the appropriate length required by the assignment
The paper includes an APA style cover page.
The paper includes an Abstract that is formatted to support the appropriate version of APA Publication Manual (e.g. 6th edition).
The paper properly uses headings, font styles, and white space as outlined in the appropriate version of APA Publication Manual (e.g. 6th edition).
The paper includes an introductory paragraph with a succinct thesis statement.
The paper addresses the topic of the paper with critical thought.
The paper concludes with a restatement of the thesis and a conclusion paragraph.
Citations of original works within the body of the paper follow the appropriate version of APA Publication Manual (e.g. 6th edition) guidelines.
The paper includes a References Page that is completed according to the appropriate version of APA Publication Manual (e.g. 6th edition).

30 Points

Please remember it is a 12 paper research paper. It does not include the reference but I have included and extra page for the references. With the powerpoint presentation it is 8 slides but I added and extra page for the reference. I am going to be download some rules for the powerpoint directly from the teacher.
