An analytical essay of the relationship between characters in the play Big Night written by Dawn Powell (detailed topic is below) Topic: Big Night is a play concerned with ? among other things ? a mid-twentieth-century America where all values are being overtaken by business values. A useful distinction when analyzing this play may be that between seeing someone as a means to an end and seeing someone as an end-in-themselves. Assume for the purpose of argument that the more ethical position is to treat others ? especially intimates like friends or (especially) spouses ? as ends-in-themselves, meaning you respect and love that person for who they are, not for what he or she could do for you. Now analyze the relationships between the characters of Powell?s play and show us whether anyone treats anyone else as an end-in-themselves, or whether all these relationships are built on utility ? that is, where everyone treats everyone else as a means to an end (a means to make money, or to make better social contacts ? whatever). Once you?ve established the nature of relationships in the play, focus on the character of Myra. Look at the choice she makes at the end of the play, and at the action and conversation leading up to it. Decide based on the evidence what sort of choice Myra has made. Is there a difference between the way she was used by Ed and the way she will likely be used by Jones? If there is, explain that difference. Finally, is Myra?s choice to go with Jones tragic, heroic, pragmatic, some combination of these things, or something else?Source: Only use Big Night play by Dawn Powell.Structural Instructions: Make sure to use proper MLA-format with the works cited page(8th page). 8th page needs to be Works Cited with only the BIG NIGHT play sourced no other source Please use abundant quotations to support ideas Please make sure that every idea is from you do not plagiarize Please write full 7 pages Please have clear introduction-several body-and conclusion paragraphs Please have a TITLE & have a clear THESIS Statement at the end of the introduction paragraph(thesis should include every topic that will be discussed in each body) Every new paragraph should have a introductory sentence and conclusive sentence Please start the essay with a hook (either quote, question, an interesting sentence) Please used advanced vocabulary with complex sentences This is an ANALYTICAL essay, so please dont use the pronoun I I attached the play if you didnt read it so please read the play carefully and do correct analysis Please give specific examples with the characters while analyzing and make you sure to analyze the relationship each character has The MOST important thing is not making a summary but providing a good ANALYSIS of each point you make Please use transition words to make the essay smooth Please read the TOPIC carefully and provide answers to all the questions in the essay
