PSYC 221 OBSERVATION PAPER
For this assignment, you should observe a child (one) between the ages 3 and 9, in a natural setting for 30 minutes to 1 hour, writing down your observations. Then, prepare and submit a 2-3-page paper, explaining your observations. The observations that you make and the vocabulary that you use in this paper should demonstrate your familiarity with the concepts and theories discussed throughout this course. Your principal and only sources of information is you book:
Diane E. Papalia, & Feldman, R. D. (2011). A child’s world: Infancy through adolescence (12th ed.). Boston, Massachusetts: McGraw-Hill.
For this assignment, you may change first person voice. However, you will need a title page, and a conclusion page, which should follow APA format as outlined in the APA Manual.
Some Hint.
State the basic information related to the child, Visual assessment: Provide a brief overview of the child’s appearance. What is the child wearing? Color of hair etc.
Briefly describe the child’s personality Outgoing, shy, funny, quiet, etc..
Describe the child’s biological, cognitive, and psychosocial development
Relate your observations to a specific stage in Piaget’s Stages of cognitive development.
Relate the development criteria pertaining to Erikson’s description of psychosocial stages for your subject.
