Grey writes that men and women have nothing in common—they might as well be from two different planets. Do you agree with him or is he stereotyping?  Write an

essay in which you contrast men and women in terms of their traits. Identify points where you agree with Grey as well as points where you disagree.  Provide several

specific (vivid) examples to support your points.

Format:  five or four paragraphs, two and a half to three full pages, double space.  Follow MLA format (see sample attached to your syllabus).

Directions:  Both your outline and your essay need to follow either block (subject-by-subject) or point-by-point pattern.  In your introduction, use one of two

strategies before introducing your own thesis (with or without an essay map).  Use direct and blended quotes as well as paraphrases to support your points.  Also, you

should use personal experience whenever appropriate.  You need to incorporate quotations or paraphrases from John Grey’s “Men Are from Mars, Women are from Venus.”

Finally, incorporate an expert of your choice (I recommend Deborah Tannen).
