Until 2009 Lidl restricted its internationalization to countries within Europe. Aldi, in contrast, decided to open stores in Europe, Australia and in the USA. What are the advantages and disadvantages of Aldi strategy? How would large local firms respond to Aldi entry to their market e.g. what strategies would they adopt?
