Tagging & Subject Access Systems (Library Science)

Part A: Tag Analysis (will give writer access to these assignments)

Analyze the collection of tags that the class created while adding materials to the Contribute assignments.

Describe the features of the tags used by the class. What kinds of tags were applied to these materials? How often were various tags used? Do the tags form a coherent system? Describe how you would systematically assess the tags used by class.

Part B: Tags vs. Subject Access Systems (will supply writer with chapter)

Analyze the tags created in light of the relevant course readings, in particular Chapter 10 “Systems for Vocabulary Control” from your textbook.
Compare our tags with other subject access systems (such as those we discussed in class, both synchronously and asynchronously, and such as those contributed via the Contribute 3 assignment).
