The PowerPoint should contain at least 9 slides (including a title slide and a reference slide) if it is completed on an individual basis. There should be at least 15 slides (including a title slide and a reference slide) as a group. Also, you are required to record yourself presenting your PowerPoint. 

 

Step 1: Preparing a PowerPoint

Choose one of the topics below:

· Create a PowerPoint based on one of the topics below:

Topic 1: Privilege, Microaggressions, and Discrimination 

Topic 2: Evaluating Sources for Research 

Topic 3: Faulty Reasoning (it is also called Logical Fallacies)

     Topic 4: 

·

· Explore a recent social justice incident (within the last 5 years).

· Discuss the origin of the incident and who/what influenced the incident.

· What impact does this incident have on society from a national and/or local view?

· What types of media have the most impact on the current issue?

· How does the media affect perceptions about the issue?

 

You are required to use at least one credible source ( when researching your chosen topicFor example,

· library databases 

· peer-reviewed academic journals

· government or academic institutions (i.e. .gov or .edu)

· trusted news outlets 

· popular publications (e.g. Time, Newsweek, Popular Psychology, Fortune, etc.)

 

The first slide of the PowerPoint should be the title slide. Then, create 7 slides for the body if you work individually and 13 slides for the body if you work as a group. At the end of the PowerPoint, there should be a References slide in proper APA format. Click  for details about citing your sources in APA style. Do NOT include any transitional slides, 'Thank You' slide, and 'The END' slide in your PowerPoint. Those slides will NOT be counted and graded. The slides submitted should only include content covering the key concepts and critical information.

 

On EACH slide, there should be:

1. A specific title

2. SmartArt graphics (click ) and/or 3-5 bullet points (click ) to communicate concise information. (Sufficient and concise written information should be provided. Do NOT fill the slides with lengthy sentences and paragraphs, yet do NOT oversimplify the content by only indicating a few words. PowerPoint slides showing signs of oversimplification, those showing signs of excessive copying, and those filled with lengthy sentences/paragraphs will receive ‘0’ point. Refer to the example below).

3. At least one picture (click ) relevant to the information. 

 

Step 2: Presenting the PowerPoint

In addition to creating a PowerPoint, you are required to record yourself presenting your PowerPoint. You may choose to record just your voice and your computer screen or you may choose to record your face, the screen, and your voice. There are different ways to present the PowerPoint:

· Use your cell phone, any other devices, or any other recording software

 

Note: When presenting, do NOT read directly off the slides. The bullets should only serve as prompts and visual cues. However, they should NOT be your script and you should NOT recite bullets word for word. Keep the audience engaged by elaborating the ideas completely in your own words,  adding additional examples that support your presentation, telling interesting stories/facts related to the point you want to illustrate, sharing relevant personal experiences, etc.
