Instructions: You have now had a chance to learn about stem cells and why they are so important to medical research.  You have also learned why harvesting stem cells is so controversial.  In this assignment, you will write an essay stating your ethical position on harvesting embryonic stem cells in several scenarios:  Is it ethical to harvest stem cells from “left over” embryos at fertility clinics?  Defend your position.  Is it ethical to create embryos for the sole purpose of harvesting stem cells?  Defend your position.  Should federal tax dollars be used to fund embryonic stem cell research?  Why or why not?  If your answers differ, explain why.  Should we abandon the research using embryonic stem cells altogether?  Why or why not?  Your essay should be at least two typed pages and answer each of the questions above.
