Discussion 6

For our week six discussion, we are working with two articles and practicing inferring the foundations of the research presented.  Working from the Creswell text scripts and the DBA rubric and template, make a first attempt at how you might write up the elements required for this DQ.    As you review the available literature on your topic, it is imperative to remember that you are most likely reading articles that summarize an underlying research study. Rarely does a journal print a researchers entire study, as to do so would consume hundreds of pages. In fact, what you are reading is a really an abridged version of the study; therefore, you must frequently fill-in-the blanks. Many times, foundational study elements like the research problem, study purpose, research questions, and hypotheses are combined to save space or re-worded to improve readability and interest. As a way to practice deductive reasoning and dissertation writing skills review the articles Racial Incidents at the University of Missouri: The Value of Leadership Communication and Stakeholder Relationships by Fortuanato, Gigliotti and Ruben, and Authentic Leadership and Its Relationship to Ministerial Effectiveness by Puls, Ludden, and Freemyer. For your post,

  1. draft a likely purpose statement for each article,
  2. draft possible research question(s) (if the study is qualitative) or research question(s) and hypotheses (if the study is quantitative), and
  3. provide a brief explanation for your drafted purpose statement and research questions or research questions and hypotheses information found in the articles, the course materials, as well as the DBA Rubric and DBA template. (hint: review the format used in the scripts found in the Creswell book, but remember Concordias DBA program has different/additional requirements you will need to provide for your post)
