Why did Parliament believe the colonists would accept the Tea Act of 1773?

Britain let the East India Company not pay taxes, so the price of tea would go down.

Hi there. I’m also learning this in history class and took notes on this today, if I recall this correctly, the parliament made the tea cost cheaper but the colonists were angry because the Act would let the East India Company change tea sales in the colonies. That’s why they rebelled and dumped 3 million dollars worth of tea into the Boston harbor. I hoped that helped you. 🙂
