Criminal justice agencies

Background: Criminal justice agencies have traditionally worked in ?stove pipes?. This means that they worked within their own environment with little interaction across the criminal justice spectrum. There are many reasons for this to include turf issues, security clearances, lack of trust, budget issues, tradition, no interoperable information systems and the lack of a systems approach to problem solving. The events surrounding the 911 incident began to change this and make criminal justice professionals think differently. Criticism and a public demand for effective solutions to security problems in a changing world are also driving the changes. Technology advances are now making it possible to share critical information in ways not even imagined a decade ago. If the criminal justice system is to work effectively, it must truly work as a system. This means there must be collaboration, cooperation, understanding, education, trust and a systems thinking approach to operations and effective problem solving. Assignment: Use a minimum of four journal articles that discuss changes in the criminal justice system since the events of 911. At least 2 articles must NOT come from the internet. It must be in own words, but of course when using articles, it is cited. The articles should focus on lessons learned from the events of 911, what the problems and issues were, what positive changes were made, what the consequences of not acting are and what still has to be done for criminal justice to function as a cohesive system. The submitted project must be a minimum of 10 pages of 12-point font (Arial or Times New Roman only), double-spaced type, not including cover page and bibliography. Section 3: Compare and contrast the four articles. Do they reach the same conclusion? How are they alike? How are they different? What conclusions do the reach? Section 4-Conclusion: Based on your analysis of the articles and their conclusions, do you see the criminal justice system working more as an effective system?
