Reflective Essay (Writing Assignment #1)
Purposes: To narrate and reflect on a personal experience you had that has proven to be crucial to your character development as a person.
Format: Narrative personal letter.
Audience: The most loved and trusted person you know. Write as though it were a one-to-one communication.
Tone: Personal, informal.
Specifications:
• Write in personal letter form, with a date, greeting, body, and salutation.
• Hand in with your rough draft: (1) a zero draft or idea web; (2) a rough outline. These will be non-graded and should be completed prior to your rough draft on your own.
• Rough Draft may be typed or hand-written. Submit in accordance with Course Policy 2 (Syllabus p. 3) by Thursday, August 28th. This will be evaluated on the “good faith effort”
standard described in “Course Methods: Writing” (Syllabus, p. 2).
• Final copy must be typed, double-spaced, 12 pt. size, conservative font, 1” margin, printed in black ink only and on one side only. Multiple pages should be numbered and stapled
together in the upper left corner. The page range must be three to five complete pages. Submit in accordance with Course Policy 2 (Syllabus p. 3) by Thursday, September 4th. This will be
evaluated based on the rubric below:
