The issue in which I have chosen is that Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act is outdated does not reflect the current voting demographic of the United States and should be properly amended to execute the original intent behind the provision. By looking at the history of Section 5 it is apparent that through the courts and changes in demographics that Section 5 is in need of being updated.
