Please finish the reading then follow the request, the reading you need to read is on: https://fitnyc.open.suny.edu/webapps/blackboard/content/listContent.jsp?course_id=_16912_1&content_id=_277004_1

The discussion for this module is based on several examples of the work of contemporary Muslim artists. I’ll give you the name of the artists but not much else. Your job is to look carefully at works by these artists and try and assess their place in Islamic art, at least as you understand it so far. What traditional forms do these artists use? Do they change the forms at all? Is there anything specifically Islamic about these works? And finally, do these works conform or not to whatever your notion of contemporary Islamic art is? (You may of course use the Internet to help you in your discussion if you feel you need more information about these artists.) Please locate and discuss works by these two artists:

Raqib Shaw (born 1974 in Calcutta, India; lives and works in London):

Shahzia Sikander (born 1969 in Lahore, Pakistan; lives and works in New York):

Please write as a discussion, make sure you read the reading and follow all the question above.
