For your essay, you need to answer the following question:

If you were to become a parent, would you prefer to raise your child in a hierarchical society (like the United States) or in a more egalitarian society (like Denmark) ?

To answer this question, you need to include discussion of the following:

· The basic differences between the two types of societies, focusing particularly on how they are structured (think: inequality vs. equality), and on values, goals, and behaviors they promote.

· The different “well-being” outcomes of the two types of societies.

· What you want for your child and why one society is more likely than the other to make that possible.

To do well in this essay, you must meet the following criteria:

· Write a minimum of three pages.

· Have an introductory paragraph that lays out the issue and expresses your main argument.

· Have body paragraphs that support your argument with evidence from the readings or videos.

· Use the book Hypercapitalism, including Chapter 6, and at least one of the other sources we have read or watched in the last two weeks.

· Include at least one quote and one paraphrase from our sources, properly cited and formatted.

· Have a concluding paragraph that leaves your reader with something to think about on the topic.

· Include a Works Cited page at the end.

· Participate in drafting and peer review, which means completing stages of the paper on time.
