For this assignment, students are invited to analyze a current event relevant to the course material, but the topic is not limited to current events. Students must:1. Clearly and concisely summarize the issue/case;2. Identify, discuss and analyze the primary business law issues impacted, making links to all relevant secondary issues and concepts.
The research paper shall be a minimum of four pages and should not exceed 12 pages. APA format, 1.5 spacing. sources page, TOC and abstract do not count toward page limit. discussion of at least two published cases (stare decisis) that address the subject.
Regardless of whether students have a strong view of the subject from right v. wrong or yes v. no standpoint, it is important to balance the discussion by discussing cases that may support the various view points on the subject. While most students choose a topic v. a case, students are welcome to take the latter approach by analyzing the impact of a seminal case or cases in a given area of the law on business.
A strong paper will include not only your research and analysis applying the law, but also consider the ethical implications of the issue/case applying course concepts related to ethics and the law. While not required, you may rely on and use the Baird approach for analyzing the ethical implications of the subject of your paper.
You must cite to and explain at least two cases related to your topic. I am very flexible.
A business law research paper should be extremely methodical and have clear and concise thoughts that are presented throughout the paper. In addition, only use language that is professional in a business law research paper.
