The purpose of this assignment is to familiarize you with the various sections of a scholarly
article and get you comfortable with APA formatting, which is a way to format a research
paper or essay. For this homework assignment you must find a professional journal/research
article on a sociological topic that interests you. It MUST be an original research article; no
reports, opinions or editorials, no meta-analysis. Find your journal/research article by going
to the BCCC homepage, CANVAS library link or the Library homepage.  Do not use any
other source but a professional journal/research article for this assignment. Look for key
words such as method, participants, etc. to determine if you have found a research article.
The cover page and reference page must be formatted in APA 7th edition style.

For the body of your paper, answer only the following questions about the article in complete
sentences:
1. What was the purpose of the article?
2. What was the dependent variable (the subject of the research question)?
3. What were the independent variables (things that might have caused the DV)?
4. How did the researchers do this (experiment, survey, etc.)?
5. What was the outcome (results)?
