                        Written Assignment

-For this week’s assignment you are to watch the video and relate something that you noticed to another video of your choice. Write an analysis on how and why the Sweet Charity video made you think of the video of your choice. I will post a video for you to watch. You are to:

-Watch the Video

-Find a second video and write an analysis of the two videos using language from class and the readings.

-Discuss what you noticed in both of the films. What you found interesting or uninteresting. How they made you feel. A possible narrative you noticed. How this could relate to what we are learning/have learned in class. Similarities: Style of movement such as classical ballet, contemporary ballet, choreography, cultural qualities, dance for film, etc.. Make sure you choose another video such as Beyonce, “If I were A Boy”, video.

-Begin Creating an Argument

-What are you writing about? What is the main idea of your paper? What is your thesis statement and how will you explore it in your body paragraph(s)? Be sure to include an introduction, body paragraph(s) and a conclusion.

-A good starting place

-What you found interesting or uninteresting.

-How it made you feel.

-A possible narrative you noticed

-How this could relate to what we are learning/have learned in class.

-Reference at least 1 moment of the video in your writing. For example:

-At 12:01 in the video, I noticed how

-By the end of the video, the overall narrative was community. This can be seen at 05:24 when the dancers…

-Reference at least 1 quote from the readings in your writing. For example:

-In chapter 3 of our readings, dance is defined as….  I agree with this because… In the video, we notice how the definition comes into play.

-Written submission must be 400 – 450 words.

-Submit as a word document.

-Spell check and check for grammatical errors.
