Research topic: Secularism as an ideology to curb religious violence: Why Singapore is more successful than India?

Discuss how Singapore’s secularism is assertive and controls religion whereas India’s secularism is normative. In India, religion is often mobilized and party ideologies rests on religious fault lines. Discuss a spectrum of secularism: ranging from passive to active. Refer to file “48657521.pdf” for Singaporean secularism. Carl Schmitt’s “friend-enemy” relationship can be brought into discussion. Lecture 8 and 9 slides can be main point of reference. While the rest can just be informational.
