It assists the University in knowing you as an individual, independent of test scores and other objective data. We ask that you respond with any topic of your choice. Your personal essay should be a total of 500 words in the space provided below. The best personal essay is not necessarily the longest. The essay will be requested if it is not the appropriate length.

A personal story: My first time going out with my friends in the 11th grade. It was honestly, the best thing that happened in a long time.  In my Caribbean household, I could never go anywhere it was always school, home, and church. Which was known as the 3 L’S in Haitian creole, Lekol, Lakay, Leglis. I would always have to take care of my siblings because my parents worked long hours, so i missed all the birthday celebrations and socials.

Going through this has thought me to start from home. This has taught me to genuinely love helping others whether it’s physically, mentally, or emotionally. On my own time, I would spend hours and hours helping my siblings with homework, help my grandparents by taking their vitals and baths, and with their medications

Reasons as to why I’m applying:
Ever since I was little, I’ve always wanted to go to a college that’s all about being a family. Has a great vibe, culture, and unity.
