Prompt 1: Relationships

Many of the stories in this unit focus on relationships: relationships between parents and children, relationships between husbands and wives, relationships among members of a community. Write an essay that explains how character, setting, imagery, and/or symbolism is used to develop a theme about relationships in one or two of the stories.

In your essay, you must use

ONE or TWO stories (primary sources) AND
at least ONE article of literary criticism or other non-fiction work about the story (secondary source)
