Co-located/Virtual Project Teams – Motivation: Mistakes and Approaches

1) Of the motivational mistakes that are discussed in the Levin text (See attached), please discuss ones you may have encountered in the past, or if not, discuss potential mistakes that co-located/virtual project teams may experience, along with their associated impact(s).

2) Determine motivational approaches that would be most appropriate for the members of a co-located/virtual project team.

3) Discuss how you would work to ensure that a co-located/virtual project team is a high-performing, empowered team.
    a) Assess the stage of a project team’s development according to the Tuckman model (see pp. 3-11 in the Levin text See attached)

4) Assess how you can best create a team culture focused on success.
a)Determine the barriers you must overcome to achieve outstanding team performance

Note: For the attachment entitled “People Capability Maturity Model” – I do want to stress the limitations of this model. First it is from a 2009 article and it applies to the software development industry. Parts of the article are relevant as long as we don’t over generalize and adjust our interpretations to today’s global business environment beyond the IT industry.
