Respond at least 100 words rMajor pros and cons of a reward system are pretty simple and clear.  Pro, getting students to do what you need them to do.  Con, the students then want something in return when the teacher asks them to do something.  These are the two main pros and cons that every teacher today has to deal with.  Students always want something for nothing.  But, when it comes to a competition, sometimes that can have pros and cons as well.  Like a team effort kind of project.  Say the teacher separates the class into four groups, and has one prize for the group that finishes on time first.  The students will work hard, that is not a doubt, but students will also work dirty and find ways to sabotage the other students.  This is where the cons come in.  Students that are competitive are going to want to win at any cost, and sometimes this kind of thing can turn ugly, and this is where the teacher needs to set some ground rules to keep things clean.  Teachers can always convince a student to do their homework in a different language and win a candy bar, or a day of free homework pass.  Problem is, students are going to start expecting this kind of reward for their efforts.  I believe the reward system should be carefully used, and make sure that ground rules are set, or the teacher is going to find themselves being walked all over by their very own students.
