Network Neutrality
How would internet users be impacted if big media companies like Disney charge ISPs to carry their websites?
A computer user pays an Internet Service Provider son as to access the internet, one pays extra for higher speeds. There are positives and negatives to letting the ISP like Disney charge for the service to the companies on the users. According to researchers, the added revenue in ISPs’ banks may bring about the offering affordable, even free internet client service (Biz Magazine). Approximately, 26 million Americans stay in places that do not have broadband access, this is in reference to the 2011 Federal Communications Commission report.
However the IT researchers have a contrasting opinion and warn that by charging the ISP to carry their websites would limit ISP’s incentive to elevate speed and reliability for the users. A main obstacle in creating money is an egalitarian aspect termed to as net neutrality.
Would you consider switching ISPs to see certain websites? (what if your current ISP didn?t carry Facebook?)
I would consider switching from one ISP to another one. With regard to a report by the Federal Communications Commission showing that a number of switchers acquire an equal improvement that they desire in viewing the website. According to a research on the quality of internet service; the outcome show that a small contrast in the attitudes of the switchers and non-switchers.
Switching offers reliability in the new service in regards to viewing sites that one may not be able to see. There is high speed for the users as well as excellent customer service as named in the report. With Facebook I would consider using it on free accounts like yahoo and Gmail.
Is Disney violating the principle of Net Neutrality? Why or why not?
Disney is not violating net neutrality. The ISPs would be in a position to acquire fees that would accord them the necessary resources that they require to elevate their model that assist in fixing the prevailing issues like interruption and slow connections (Biz Magazine). These are normally experienced in playing online games on Facebook or the streaming of videos.
