The purpose of this study is to gain a deeper understanding of internationalisation through joint ventures into Russia. To achieve this purpose, the following objectives and research questions

have been formulated;
1. To determine the factors which motivate multinational companies to enter Russia
2. To establish the factors that influence multinational companies to use joint venture strategy as the entry mode into Russia
3. To identify the problems associated with managing international joint ventures in Russia
4. To establish the factors that cause international joint venture instability
5. To establish ways through international firms manage international joint ventures to achieve success.
