Contextual Family Therapy

In addition to the required readings above, go to the e-brary collection in the Northcentral library. To get to the e-brary go to the Northcentral library, click on “Find a Book,” then on the “Ebrary,” and enter the title of the book in the “Simple Search” box. Specifically search for:

Goldenthal, P. (2005). Helping children and families: A new treatment model integrating psychodynamic, behavioral, and contextual approaches. Hoboken, NJ: John Wiley & Sons. ISBN: 9780471735359. Read Chapters 1 and 2.

For this Activity, you will write a 5-7 page essay that identifies the major assumptions for change for the contextual approach. Use your own words to identify, define, and describe the major concepts of the contextual approach. Address what makes this approach different from some of the other MFT approaches. Include in your paper, a brief case example and how you would apply this approach to that case. Use a minimum of 3 articles from peer-reviewed journals as resources to support your essay.

Length: 5-7 pages (app. 350 words per page)

Your essay should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts that are presented in the course and provide new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards.
