Cinema Studies “Montage and Deep Focus Editing”

In Cinema Studies, Susan Hayward writes, “montage and deep focus editing are seemingly ideologically opposed. Yet in both instances, the spectator is responsible for creatively reading what he or she sees” (112). Write an essay comparing and contrasting the ways in which Soviet montage and Welles’s deep focus cinematography challenge the viewer to participate in the construction of cinematic meaning. Questions you might address: How are Soviet montage and deep focus opposed? What differences can we locate between the challenges posed by these different approaches, and what are the implications of these differences? Is there a political dimension to this opposition between Soviet montage and deep focus?

*This is not a thesis statement. It is up to you to clearly formulate an argument relating to this topic. Marks will be deducted for overly awkward or ungrammatical writing. Judicious and effective use of secondary research will likely improve the written work.

Also, please review the current sources used in this paper as I find it hard to tell if they are accurate in the right places throughout the paper, for example on page 2, paragraph 3 doesnt sound like hayward says this and another instance on page 4, paragraph 3 it is credited to Blanchet but it doesnt seem like we says this. Thanks

Would the writer be able to incorporate another 1 to 2 academic sources as in scholarly articles or books within the next 12 hours?
