Analysis on the Character of T.S. Eliot’s J. Alfred Prufrock

In “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock,” we are confronted with a middle aged man who is examining his life and finding it to be failed. I want you to write a three page paper examining that character and how he comes to that conclusion. Who is he speaking to? What is his “overwhelming question?” Are there symbols? Strong images
that underscore his sense of self? Any metaphors that help us to understand him. What about the repeated words and phrases? How does he end his soliloquy? What is his tone?
