Title (should be intriguing, revelatory)
In his seminal essay, Self Reliance, Ralph Waldo Emerson postulated that [a] foolish
consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds (Emerson 66), and working off that assumption we
will call into question the legality of Coca Cola and other sugary, carbonated beveragescokes,
sodas, pops, etc.
Using the Rogerian Model of argument (an outline of which can be found on the back of
this page) and utilizing at least four reputable, outside sources, we will work to clearly establish
both sides of the argument before making our own claim in this regardthat is to say we will
create a well-reasoned argument that deeply illuminates the question: Should soft drinks be
legal?
