Script Project MR

You are to write an ORIGINAL script that cannot exceed 2 pages in length (typed, 12pt font). Begin, as any good playwright does, with a purpose! What is the idea/theme/emotion that you are trying to impart to your audience? Do you want to make a political statement or do you just want to make someone laugh? You may set your play anywhere, anytime and use as many or as few characters as you need. Your play does not have to have a tidy conclusion, it can end ambiguously or with resolution. Your play does not need to be realistic (although it certainly can be). Don’t worry about proper grammar, instead try to capture the way people really talk – though avoid “text speak” at all costs. Please be aware however that you are writing for the stage, not a film! Your story should be told through dialogue, not excessive images/action. You should have a clear idea of how to stage all the action in your script on-stage and in front of a live audience (just how will you stage that car crash?). Your play should have a maximum of 2 scenes – preferably just one. Include as little or as much stage direction as you need. Have fun with this and be creative! Projects may be turned in early but will not be accepted late. No exceptions. Word to the Wise: Do not write a play about you writing your play. This has been done to death, isn’t nearly as creative as it seems late at night, and kinda pisses off the instructor.
