Revolutions and Their Significance

“Along with the French Revolution of 1789 and the Russian Revolution of 1917, the
revolution of 1989 is arguably the most important turning point in the modern history of
the West, if not the entire world.” Why are these three dates considered turning points?
Is this merely a Eurocentric view of world history, or was the year 1989 truly important
to world history and, if so, why?
