Moses was the son of Amram and Jochebed and had an elder brother who was called Aaron. Prophet Moses is the one who led the Israelites from Egypt at the time that they were slaves. Moses was born at a time that all the male children were being drowned into the Nile as was commanded by Pharaoh. Exodus 1:15-16 “The king of Egypt said to the Hebrew midwives whose names were Shiphrah and Puah. “ When you help the Hebrew woman in childbirth and observe them on the delivery stool, if it is a boy, kill him; if it is a girl let her live” His mother hid him for three months “and when she could hide him no longer she got a papyrus basket for him and coated it with tar and pitch and set him on the Nile banks”. Exodus 2:3-4. He was later discovered by the daughter of Pharaoh who was taking a bathe and was adopted by her Exodus 2:5-6. This is where the name Moses came, Exodus 2:10 “When the child grew older, she took him to Pharaoh’s daughter and he became her son. She named him Moses saying “I drew him from the water”. The sister to Moses followed the boat when she saw where the boat had landed; she asked the daughter to pharaoh if she could hire a Hebrew to look after the baby.
Jochebed was the one that was hired and the baby grew and was the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. When Moses was an adult, he went to overlook how the slaves were faring on in the land of Egypt. This is when he saw an Egyptian beating his fellow Hebrew and killed him Exodus 2:11 “ He saw an Egyptian beating one of his own people”. He later hid his body in the sand so that he would not be discovered by the Egyptians. Exodus 2:13 “The following day he went out and saw two Hebrews quarreling” and separated them; Hebrew who had wronged the other provoked Exodus 2:14 “Are you thinking of killing me as you killed the Egyptian?” It was soon that he discovered the secret was known to everyone and that he was likely to be killed by the king. (Exodus 2:15)
He then decided to escape and he went to Sinai Peninsula of where he settled with Jethro who was a high priest. He married the daughter of Jethro whose name was Zipporah, Exodus 2:21” Moses agreed to stay with the man who gave his daughter Zipporah to Moses to marry”. In Exodus 3:1-3 Moses took his flock to Mount Horeb for the purpose of grazing and this is where he saw a burning bush that was not being consumed. God spoke to him and revealed who he was to Moses Exodus 3:4-21, “When the Lord saw that he had gone to look, God called him form within the bush “Moses! Moses!” This is the place that Moses was received his prophet hood and priesthood from God. God then commissioned Moses to return back to Egypt and rescue His people from the bondage of slavery. He told him that he had heard the cries of his people and he wanted him to go deliver them and bring them to the Promised Land. There were some transformations that took place during the time that God was speaking to Moses
