A good essay includes a judicious mix of theoretical engagement and empirical evidence. Preferably it is structured with a beginning, middle and an end. Sub-headings can be used to break up the focus of different sections. Make sure you write your essay topic in your paper and, more importantly, answer the question. Use the Harvard referencing system.
1) Mediated communication is central to the life of Diasporas. Discuss in reference to a diaspora of your choice.
2) Brah calls the diasporic experience the politics of intersectionality. Explore this construct in relation to one particular diaspora and their media related activities.
3) Diasporic groups are at the forefront of transnational cultural practices and identity-formation. Discuss with reference to a group of your choice.
4) The Internet has revived religious identity and adherence. Discuss in relation to one specific religious group.
5) Much transnational activity is focused on national political struggles. Explore in relationship to an example of your choice.
6) The expansion of minority forms of expression allows the mainstream to maintain its biases. Examine the key issues here and how they might be resolved.
7) How has the advent of transnational media and ICTS challenged the study of either (a) contemporary social movements or (b) contemporary religious practices?
8) Anti-globalization activists are heavily reliant on global communications. Examine how this is/isnt a significant conundrum.
9) Discuss how contemporary communications extend the study of place and space.
10) The growth of minority media only fuels social fragmentation. Discuss in relationship to one specific national context.
