Describe the posters in depth: image chosen, colors, lettering design, connection to the story of the movie, etc.

THIS IS A VISUAL/RESEARCH PAPER

You will choose two movie posters: one which was designed for an American audience and a second one featuring the same movie, made for another country and audience. You will describe and compare the two and choose which is most successful and explain your reasons. In addition, you will research the designers, their careers, their style, and their other works. You will then write a 3-4 pages analysis/research paper on your chosen topic.

1) You are allowed to choose two movie posters for comparison OR you can also chose two posters of the same movie and compare them. You MUST watch the movie (s) to successfully criticize/analyze the posters.

2) The paper requires a cover sheet with your name, the title of the movie(s), the course information, the instructor’s name, and the date.

3)  You must include a photograph of each poster on a separate page & include the artist/designer name + the title + the date + medium + size.

4) Describe the posters in depth: image chosen, colors, lettering design, connection to the story of the movie, etc.

5) Write 2-3 pages on the designs. Include a short paragraph of the story to explain if the poster(s) reflects clearly the product (in this case the movie), which is being “sold” to a potential audience. Was the poster a collaboration? Do you think that it is a successful design? Do you think that it attracts the audience? Does it tell the story of the movie or does it raise the interest of a potential audience? Does it have a clear targeted audience? etc.

5) This paper will includes some type of research to know about the designer. You can include the name of the artist, a short biography (if available), and a couple of other posters the designer made (if any).

6) When using books, journals, Internet, or any other mean, you MUST include a “Works Cited” page and include endnotes. If you fail to cite borrowed information or copy from a website, this is considered academic dishonesty (plagiarism).

THE PAPER MUST BE:

  1. A) 3-4 pages (that does NOT include your cover page and illustration page)
  2. B) left-justified
  3. C) typed using 12 point Times New Roman font or similar
  4. D) double spaced

Reminder: plagiarism is a very serious issue.
