The paper should use an experimental design. I have started it already if you need the beginning. Introduction Problem Statement: explain why the topic is important or should be studied using scientific writing Not too conversational/informal, follow the technical writing do’s & don’ts Background: refer to Proposal Assignments #2 and #3 Base your hypotheses on the critiques of two articles + incorporate comments from your lab instructor Do NOT simply copy & paste from article reviews: transitions/flow important for explaining how you developed your hypotheses Discussing the previous research should set the foundation for your hypotheses Introduction (continued) Hypotheses: refer to Proposal Assignment #4 Use the 3 hypotheses that you developed + incorporate comments from your lab instructor Cor relational: you must predict a significant interaction and explain the anticipated interaction Tell direction (and strength, if possible) of predictor-outcome relationship & moderator-outcome relationship Describe interaction… do NOT simply state that there will be one! Experiment: you do not have to predict an interaction Make your main effect hypotheses directional by telling which level/condition will be greater or less than the other(s) Either describe your interaction (not required to be one) or tell that there will not be one and why Method: see Method Outline, Proposal Assignment #5 Design: cor relational or type of two-way factorial design Participants: # and where they will be recruited from, why they were chosen to be involved, etc. Measures: describe response format; include sample items; cite source; measures are emphasized in cor relational studies Procedures: details about what participants will experience while participating; procedures are emphasized in experiments References Consult APA formatting resources Figure & Caption Should follow the References; follow APA format Consult your presentation assignment, including comments from your lab instructor Again, you’ll be evaluated on whether your figure represents what your hypotheses describe Appendix Should follow the Figure and contain a complete measure/scale
