This is an assignment for my literature class in which I would have to answer 4 questions in essay form. The teacher stated that she is interested in substance not length but that the answers should be more than 2 paragraphs and should be detailed, specific response-essays using as much material as needed. Document the work by adding a work cited page. Also, it is important and necessary to cover every literary text (10 texts), 4 items of childrens lore (attached), two toys (attached), and all four concepts from Griswold (Lightness, smallness, aliveness, and scariness). All of these should be met; however, not necessarily for each question but should be found throughout the entire 4 questions. For example, for q1- we could include 3literary texts, an item of childrens lore, and concept from Griswold q2-3literary texts and a toy, an item of childrens lore, and concept from Griswold q3-3 literary texts and a toy, an item of childrens lore, and concept from Griswold q4-1literary text, item of childrens lore, and concept from Griswold. This is just an example of the specifics of the answers, however you could chose how you want to format it as long as all the concepts or specifics are met throughout all 4 questions and not necessarily each question. Q1) Create an essay about the picture of childhood you get from these classic 20th century childrens literature and lore. Q2)Some scholars believe childrens literature and lore teaches lessons about correct behavior. Argue this pro or con, describing the kinds of lessons, punishment, rewards, behavior, etc. Support with examples and do not use both pro AND con. its OR Q3)One of the striking features of childrens literature and lore is the playfulness of language. discuss this using lots of examples. Q4)Just because the famous touchstones of childrens literature and lore are part of our history and tradition does not mean they are appropriate for our children today. Conclusions and introductions do not need to be lengthy. Make the writing lively and using I is ok! You can use critical material to back up your ideas, but support the ideas with material from the texts. I placed four sources but however much you need is fine as long as its cited, and make sure if qoutes are used from the texts to cite the page number. Should be double spaced, 12 Times Roman, with page number. Make sure to answer a question in a page and half, so for all 4 questions there should be a full 5 pages. Nevertheless, do not spend time retelling the stories, professor had stated that she already read the stories… Thank you!
