Although there is much talk in the news about stem cell research, the public and policymakers need to understand how basic body cells work to transmit information and replicate to facilitate more informed decisions.
As a biochemistry teacher, you have been asked to make a presentation on the transmission of information within the cell and the role of DNA and RNA in replication to a group of medical paraprofessionals at a community health center.
Task:
Design a presentation (suggested length of 1-3 slides) for medical paraprofessionals in the scenario in which you do the following:
Note: attach copies of your models or diagrams constructed in parts A–
C as attachments to this task.
A. Construct models or diagrams with clear labels that demonstrate DNA replication at the biochemical level.
B. Construct models or diagrams with clear labels that describe the role of the ligate enzyme in the replication of DNA.
C. Explain the role of RNA polymerase inhibition in causing the poisonous effect of the death cap mushroom, based on your knowledge of the biochemistry of DNA and RNA.
