I have class for Test and Measurements so I want to answer these questions:
Briefly explain, in 6 sentences, the mandates of No Child Left Behind and how it relates to the inclusion or exclusion of testing children with disabilities.
2- Meaning of placement, formative, diagnostic and summative
For each of the following tyes of assessment state one specific example that illustrates its use in some subject area.
1- Placement:
2- Formative:
3- Diagnostic:
4- Summative:
For example:
1- Placement- these types of tests are given to students possibly before starting a new school or before a certain grade. It is almost like a “pre-test” to determine knowledge or proficiency in one or all subjects in order to determine where to put you.
2- Formative- teachers use this type of assessment in order to gain knowledge of a certain student. Formative assessment is used when a child has difficulty in a certain skill and this allows the teacher to adjust her lesson planning or teaching accordingly.
3- Diagnostic- this provides a deeper level of assessment. It yields insight into how a student might think, solve a problem a certain way, or why they answer questions the way they do.
4- Summative- this type of assessment is usually given as a conclusion. It is used to evaluate a student at the end of a year or end of a period. It is also categorized by three major points; what degree the students have learned the material, effectiveness of a program, and how you are graded.
