Argue a Position

Select one of the following topics to make an argument to either refute or support a position.  Please select:

  1. For or against euthanasia;
  2. For or against capital punishment;
  3. For or against abortion;
  4. For or against legalization or decriminalization of marijuana use for recreational purposes.

As a part of your assignment you will need to find four (4) credible sources that support (2) and refute (2) the argument you make, and use them for support.

 

In addition, answer the following questions about your sources:

  1. What is the main argument made by the source?
  2. What is the premise and support of the main argument?
  3. Is the main argument inductive or deductive in its structure?
  4. What are the underlying assumptions about the main argument?

With your short argument of not more than 5 pages, include a copy of all the supporting articles you used.  Identify the main arguments by highlighting them in the articles.  As well, highlight the essential information you used to quote or paraphrase in your argument.Include a Works/References page.

This assignment is worth 20% of your total grade, and is due on Friday, November 30th in class.  Please note that it must be submitted in person: dropped off and emailed submissions will not be accepted.
