Purpose: To identify and examine an underlying system or structure that is preventing the elimination of a
problem or a condition in a school environment, local community, state or national educational
community, and / or global community, thereby inhibiting the effective implementation of multicultural
perspectives in K-12 education.
Choose one (1) challenge or problem related to multiculturalism in education that you want to address.
Then, analyze any significant root cause(s) of a problem or condition related to multiculturalism.
Write a two (2) page paper in which you:
1. Describe the challenge or problem, and identify it as a school-wide, local, state, national, and / or
global issue.
2. Identify, research, and discuss one (1) or more major social, political, technological, and / or
economic systems that are operating in this situation.
3. Give examples and evidence of the impact of the challenge or problem upon students, teachers,
administrators, parents, community members, and / or other stakeholders.
4. Describe what needs to change in order for the system to work.
5. Provide short- and long-term recommendations for the future.
6. Incorporate information from at least three (3) outside scholarly references in your analysis.
Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:
Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all
sides; references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any
additional instructions.
Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s
