This essay is for my sociology of terror Unit.
This essay is my final paper and is worth 70 percent of the unit mark failing to answer the question properly without using the reading and the concepts and theories will lead into failing me in this paper.

* All answers must draw on the concepts, theories and readings of this unit. They must demonstrate engagement with the unit. Your essay should demonstrate understanding of the issues raised in the question by further research using examples based on wider resources and references.
1. What are the strengths and weaknesses of national and international trials in achieving transitional justice goals of justice and reconciliation after large-scale violence? Answer with reference to the activities of a particular court and/or cases.
2. How are forgetting and remembering used as different ways to manage the legacy of past violence? Answer by providing examples of the way individual and collective memory are used to produce truth and official memory.
3. Why have victim-centred strategies promoting social healing become so prominent in post-conflict societies? Assess how beneficial these strategies have been for individual victims and communities in achieving justice and reconciliation.
4. Why have Western states become so concerned about the security threat from international terrorism? Discuss by looking at the relationship between state legitimacy, order and the mediated spectacle of abject violence.
5. Spatial strategies to manage violence e.g. peace walls, gated communities, urban tourniquets usually invoke security to justify the need for protection from the dangerous/impure other ethnic, terrorist or criminal. What has been the impact of such spatial strategies for populations on either side of the divide? Discuss with reference at least 2 examples.
