Should we study Japanese American history as part of Japanese history or as part of American history?

1st writing assignment: “What is Japanese American?”:

1.      2 pages.  Due in 8 hours

2.     Respond to the question “What is Japanese American?”

3.     There is no right or wrong and you can take the essay in any direction you want, but if you have trouble starting, you can use one or more of the following as prompts:

a.     Can Japanese Americans be considered as Japanese?

b.     Are Japanese Americans the same as other Americans?

c.     Is there such thing as a Japanese American culture?

d.     Should we study Japanese American history as part of Japanese history or as part of American history?

e.     Should Japanese Americans hang on to their history?

f.      What aspects or parts of Japanese American history should be taught to future generations?
