The paper should draw from existing leadership and leadership development theories, as well as the readings, the discussion board discussion threads, your interviews, your learning journal, team paper and other activities.

Your paper should address the following topics:

1. An ideal leader

In your opinion, what are the qualities of an ideal leader? Describe the characteristics, competencies, skills and traits that an ideal leader possesses and why?

Feel free to come up with a model, visual, audio or example to support your description.

When thinking about an ideal leader you might consider a well-known leader like Nelson Mandela, but you can also think about someone from your work, your community or your church like one of the leaders you interviewed for week three.

2. Becoming a Leader

From your perspective, what does it take to become a leader in terms of training, education, networking, experience, character development, mentoring etc. and why?

3. My Personal Leadership Development

3.1. Where are you now?

Looking at your personal leadership development and your description of your ideal leader earlier in this paper, where are you currently in your development as a leader? What are your strengths? What are your weaknesses?

3.2. Where will you be?

What are the one or two areas of continuous improvement and how do you intend to work on those?
