Human Resource Staffing & Development

Prerequisite: Prior to completing the final project, you must have completed the Job Analysis project
following the format outlined for that project. Correct formatting follows the guidelines I provided in the
instruction set for that exercise.
We have learned this year about the critical HR functions of personnel planning, recruiting, and
selection. As part of those processes, we have also seen the critical role played by job analysis.
Your task is to assume the role of an HR manager within an organization. The organization wishes to
ensure that it has the right people in the right place at the right time in order to meet its strategic
objectives. They’ve had issues in the past with jobs being vacant for too long, leading to desperate hiring
decisions that have compounded problems by bringing the wrong individuals into the organization
(these individuals either did not perform well, or did not last long for various reasons).
Using the JOB ANALYSIS that you have already completed, you are to detail how you would use the
information in the job analysis (be specific) for planning and recruiting purposes. Develop a planning and
recruiting strategy for the job ing that addresses the desire to have the right people at the right
time. Next, you are to develop a selection system for the job ing. You have license to implement
any system you desire, but you will accountable for demonstrating to the CEO and Board of Directors (by
way of your write-up) that your selection system will not only put the right people in the right place,
but that it will also be legally defensible (think about concepts such as the logic of prediction and the
Uniform Guidelines). Consider what type of assessment(s) and evaluation you will use and why. Consider
issues of validity and reliability. Consider how you will demonstrate to the CEO and Board that your
system will produce desired results?
*Note: Please include your job analysis as an Appendix at the end of your write-up. However, be aware
that it is for reference purposes and will not count towards your length requirement.
