How did individual states and the media react to the actions of the federal government? Be specific, and cite examples.

Weekly tasks or assignments (Individual or Group Projects) will be due by Monday and late submissions will be assigned a late penalty in accordance with the late penalty policy found in the syllabus. NOTE: All submission posting times are based on midnight Central Time.

In the first four phases, you have learned about the division of powers between the federal and state governments, the power of the president, how the media influences opinion and policies, and the rights of the people. In this final phase, you will discuss how the U.S. government develops and impacts public policy.

Assignment Guidelines

For this task, complete the following:

  • Choose an example of how the government has impacted public policy. For example: Social Security Act, the Affordable Care Act, the 18th Amendment (the Volstead Act), No Child Left Behind, the US PATRIOT Act, the 16th Amendment (income tax), the 19th Amendment (right of women to vote), or a topic of your choice.
  • Analyze how the public policy that you chose has impacted the U.S. government.
  • Discuss if these changes were beneficial for the American public or not. Support your answer.
  • How did individual states and the media react to the actions of the federal government? Be specific, and cite examples.

Use a minimum of 3 references to support and reinforce your thoughts. Be sure to include in-text citations and a reference list using APA style.
