Before you begin this assignment, review the Internet article, Community Asset Mapping and Mobilizing Communities, found in the Studies section of this unit.

For this assignment, interview a member of a disaster response team within your community. Use the asset map on page 35 of the Internet article as a guide when you structure your interview.

In your interview, be sure to inquire about the following aspects of the community and its disaster response planning:

•Challenges.
•Leadership techniques used within the community.
•Collaboration of resources.
•Assets within the community used to respond to the disaster, including institutions, individuals, and natural resources.
•How community assets are identified.
•Training and education needed to enhance their response team.
•Role that your education and training might play in integrating resources within the team.
Create a 14-slide PowerPoint that highlights the above information gathered from your interview. Include a minimum of three peer-reviewed resources to support your work. Remember that the focus of your work is studying human behavior in your community, in a disaster situation. Focus on the disaster plan insofar as it highlights collaboration, responses to disasters, and planning for addressing individual and group needs.

I am adding the slides that you can use as a reference. Make sure the numbers used are good and also these slides need to be based on somewhere in New York.
