Tool Evaluation / Review:

Write a review of two free Android or itunes apps similar to one that would appear in a blog or website. Each review must be at least 400 words long. (The apps must be

not older than 6 months old and needs to be something that popular within society in general. ie. Anyone can use the app.

Include section headers in your paper for each of the questions listed below.

Select two FREE Android Apps from the app section of Google Play (https://play.google.com/store/apps) that you have never used before. It is easier to scout apps on

the web and then install them on an Android device. I also find it easier to find less popular apps using the search feature instead of browsing.

Select two FREE itunes Apps from the app section of iTunes store ( https://itunes.apple.com/au/genre/ios/id36?mt=8) that you have never used before. It is easier to

scout apps on the web and then install them on an iphone device. I also find it easier to find less popular apps using the search feature instead of browsing.

If you do not have an Android and/or Apple device, you may use one of the class dev phones or tablets.

Pick apps that are no older than 6 months. The number of installs must not exceed 50000.

Complete a review of each of the apps you pick. Each review must include at a minimum:

1.

Your name, your studentID, and the name of the apps evaluated,

2. A summary of the key features of the app and your overall impression. A paragraph identifying the target audience for the app. Do you think the app was created for

purely altruistic reasons or did the creator(s) intend to make money and if so, how? 3. a list of positive characteristics (e.g. high-quality graphics, fun,

indispensable tool)

4. a list of negative characteristics (e.g. force close, slow, confusing menu titles)

5.How will this app genuinely impact society in the future?

6. Read other reviews, the short ones on the Google Play site, for the app. What is the general tone and average ranking of the other reviews. Do you agree with them

or not? Explain your reasoning.
